B-29 Superfortress pocket square in aubergine

An undertaking more expensive than even the Manhattan Project, the B-29 Superfortress introduced a number of innovations, including a pressurized cabin, dual-wheeled tricycle landing gear, and a computer-controlled fire-control system which allowed a single gunner and fire control officer to man four remote machine gun turrets. This heavy bomber was designed for high altitude strategic bombing, but could also participate in low altitude nighttime incendiary bombing missions. Most famously, one of its final World War II missions was the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
