Few passenger jets are as romanticized as the Concorde. With a top speed of Mach 2.04, it brought the world closer together by cutting flight times in half. It was a collaboration between BAC (later BAE) and Sud Aviation (later Airbus), making it also a very real representation of what international cooperation can achieve. After the aviation industry’s downturn in the early 2000s, the Concorde was retired, relegating it to travel’s golden memory.
